To make this delightful fry rice, you need the following ingredients :

Ingredients

  • Hijiki seaweed
  • Bragg’s Liquid Aminos
  • Maple syrup
  • Lemon juice
  • Toasted sesame oil
  • Olive oil
  • Onion, finely diced
  • Carrot, cut into strips
  • Edamame (frozen) 
  • Onions, chopped 
  • Basmati rice (cooked)

Directions:

  1. Soak hijiki in a bowl of water for 30 minutes. Drain and rinse 2-3 times to remove any debris, set aside.
  2. Meanwhile combine liquid Aminos, maple syrup, lemon juice, and sesame oil in a medium bowl and set aside.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet on medium-high heat.
  4. Add onions and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Stir in carrot, edamame, spring onions,  and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Add rice and stir until fully incorporated with vegetables.
  7. Stir in sauce mixture until thoroughly combined, continue cooking until the fried rice is fully heated through, about 3-5 minutes.
  8. Serve and enjoy!

Chef’s Notes

  • I have used onions, carrots, edamame, and green onions in this Hijiki Seaweed Fried Rice. However, you can use any other vegetables you like or have available.
  • As it’s one of my favorite types of brown rice, so, I have used Basmati brown rice for this recipe. But, of course, you may substitute any other type of rice you love.
