Kindergarten and Preschool Healthy Teeth Lessons and Activities

February is National Children ‘s Dental Health Month. Celebrate and learn more about the importance of a goodly smile and good alveolar consonant habits. Our preschool and kindergarten dental health activities help children to get a well start on a life of healthy teeth and gums .
During the calendar month of February, we ‘ll post some great free alveolar consonant health and tooth activities from our NEW Healthy Teeth Digital Download Lessons .

Lesson 1 Healthy Teeth

make-believe to have a television camera and ask children to say “ cheese ! ” and smile. Discuss with children how our teeth show when we smile. talk with children about the important jobs teeth perform and the ways teeth can be kept healthy.

• Strong, healthy teeth help us chew foods, speak clearly, and have bright smiles.
• Brush teeth at least twice a day
• Brush teeth correctly
• Floss teeth
• Visit the dentist
• Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
• Drink water instead of soda

“Good” and “bad” foods for the teeth
What we choose for meals and snacks can make a big difference in the health of our mouth. Decay-causing bacteria attack tooth if sugary or starchy foods stay in the mouth for a long clock. If you do serve sticky snacks ( chips, pretzels, crackers, and cereal ), serve them less much and afterwards have your children brush their teeth or rinse their mouth with water. Serve these types of snacks with crunchy fruits and vegetables which are natural tooth cleaners. Acidic foods, such as lemons and pickles, can besides erode and weaken tooth enamel .
Protective Foods: 
• Meats, domestic fowl and seafood have few carbohydrates. Protein helps to neutralize brass acids.
• Sugarless chewing gum tree promotes salvia flow and helps cleanse food particles from dentition.
• Celery, cucumbers, broccoli, apples and early crunchy, fiber-containing foods are natural teeth cleaners.
• Cheese helps reduce the acid production from other foods.
• Milk is full-bodied in calcium and phosphorus, which protects tooth enamel .
Happy and Sad Tooth printables.  Have children look through magazines to find pictures of “ good ” and “ bad ” foods for their teeth. Have them cut out the pictures and glue them to glue each page.
